Information related to the second edition

The second edition of the book, Real-Time Digital Signal Processing: from MATLAB to C with the TMS320C6x DSPs, is intended to support the latest high-performance DSP hardware from Texas Instruments, such as the C6713 DSK and the OMAP-L138 Experimenters Kit.  The OMAP-based board uses a multi-core system-on-chip (SoC) that includes both a C6748 core and an ARM9 core.  We are aware that newer DSP hardware will likely be introduced faster than another edition of the book can be published, so through this site we will provide the support needed to use the book with such newer hardware as appropriate.  We will also use this site to provide software updates and additional resources.

Breaking News! Texas Instruments recently released the OMAP-L138 Low Cost Development Kit (LCDK) board.  Lower in cost, higher in capability!  We have completed the process of preparing and uploading to this site a full set of support files for this board (all software in the book will also run on this new board).  See the links next to Software Updates below. Here is a brief comparison summary of the three boards (C6713 DSK, OMAP-L138 Experimenters Kit, and OMAP-L138 LCDK).

For instructors who adopt the book, additional materials (e.g., solutions manual, CD-ROM of all figures) are available directly from the publisher.  Instructors may request evaluation copies of the text directly from the publisher.

Errata for the book

Step-by-step guide to getting started with the OMAP-L138 Experimenters Kit, from opening the box to being ready to use it with winDSK8 or CCS.

New material for Appendix A, the tutorial for Code Composer Studio (CCS).  Updated for CCS versions 5.1, 5.2, and 5.3.

Additional material for Appendix E, Related Tools for DSKs.

The winDSK8 program (version 1 and version 2).  In version 1, winDSK8 supports only the OMAP-L138 Experimenters Kit, and winDSK6 (supplied on the book CD-ROM) supports the C6713 DSK.  In version 2, winDSK8 supports three boards: the C6713 DSK, the OMAP-L138 Experimenters Kit, and the OMAP-L138 LCDK.  The winDSK8 page also provides related info about reflashing the OMAP-L138 Experimenters Kit and reflashing the OMAP-L138 LCDK for use with winDSK8.
